Imagine your 80 old self sitting in the sun looking across the horizon of your life. She smiles gently thinking of all in and all not in her life now (people, things, memories, gifts given). She says to herself, “we did it right.” Now go to her each day and ask her, what will bring me to your smile.

I am sick with grief over the trauma the 140 families of Capital and Metro police must be suffering knowing that most American voters voted to acquit the only insurrectionist President in US history and disgust knowing his accomplices now make up the Majority of Congress in both houses they protect

When we are naked in the deep forest or desert, most are unnerved at first. Why? No one can see us so why is this true?

When we lose our titles, labels, associations, possessions and are left to be an animal, however complex, we come home to our true self.

There we can hear our heart beat harder.

Love your feed. I just went through it all and it’s so impressive given your youth. I am definitely blessed with a life of travels and adventures so I get it. Unfortunately I had a very serious backcountry accident 4 years ago that took years to rehabilitate from but by retirement I hope to be 90%+.

She will be ready.

The goal is to backpack off leash and recall when wildlife requires it.

Emma Jane is five months old and we train 3-4 times a day. She is 60% husky so it takes some work but she is already staying in place one minute, has good recall off leash, heels on command.

She is my 💜🐕

Thanks so much Derek. I cannot wait to explore Alaska. My family lived in New Zealand when I was a kid and love mountains by the sea, fjords, green. Been to 50 countries and 48 states but Alaska and Iceland are two places I cannot wait to explore as I imagine their beauty to be NZ’s equivalent.

It is historical fiction and cerebral. Truly fascinating. I do so hope you enjoy it.

No as Alaska is one of two States I have not been to yet. My life’s hero is John Muir and I have been so many places through reading his books. Until I retire, I’ll live in the Smoky Mountains training my puppy to backpack and building my Expedition truck. It is on order now from Ford then fun fun!

If you like three body problem or the movie Oppenheimer, you should try a book called When we cease to understand the world. Fascinating!

If you have a minute and don’t mind could you tell me if you had six months to tour and backpack in Alaska what 3-5 places you would recommend? No details as I know I am already asking a lot. I retire in 18 months and am building an expedition truck then my dog Emma Jane and I are hitting the road!
