One of the many great things I got out of last week’s trip to Montréal for the NACBS was a copy of @sarahcrook.bsky.social’s new book. I can’t wait to get stuck into this!

It was a joy to meet with researchers from across the world. I also loved my panel’s intervention at NACBS: an ethical discussion of #BlackBritishHistory by eight Black/ mixed-race early career researchers. A visual reminder that Black people are the makers of history, and not simply its subjects.

#NACBS at Montreal has been wonderful. I presented here for the first time. Really useful feedback and stimulating panels across the entire program. The presidential address on J.S. Mill's 'family life' was a real treat. Looking forward to coming back to it again.

Have heard so many great papers so far at #nacbs2025 & esp by ECR researchers, future of historical research is robust. But danger lies in structural impositions risking future of humanities & social sciences courses in UK HE & elsewhere. Be part of the conversation tomorrow with @royalhistsoc.org.
