When I started teaching at a Waldorf school, the parents took turns bringing flowers for the class. As a homeschooling teacher, I have to provide my own!

This has changed my life. First, it inspired me to garden and grow different flowers which led to veggies and fruits!

Lots of dragons to slay

Snow gives way to ice
Ice writes a lacey poem
On the trees and flowers
Early days of winter
Me? Cozy wrapped in wool

Waldorf teachers work from this threefold understanding of development and humanity. At each age chunk different parts are being developed and of course all three are working together in the person’s becoming. Waldorf is the OG head, heart, and hands pedagogy. I even use this in my online classes.

I love the poem The Brook by Alfred Lord Tennyson. I actually love Tennyson poems to use in education quite a bit. He has great vocabulary! Right now, my 5th graders are working with this poem, stanza by stanza!

Studying geometry really opens us up to wonder.

Wet on dry watercolor paintings are a fun way to explore a subject. This is still a work in progress but a great painting to do with middle schoolers and high schoolers!

I’m working on my dissertation now. My subject? Wonder! Waldorf wonder in the classroom 🫶Here is the sound of wonder- /ah/.
