Update on the 👻: All DIY-Decals are applied. I made some mistakes and learnt a lot for the next time. Print-wise the quality could be better, but from a normal distance they look good. I’m quite happy with the result so far. #histscalemodels

I had some good bench time over the last few days. I painted some bare metal panels on the 👻 and also the tail tip. And I printed some decals. They are not the best quality, bot not the worst either. Good enough for my purposes. #histscalemodels

And it starts again! 🎉 Meng 1/48 F-4E. The model: One of only 10 Luftwaffe‘s F-4Es stationed at George Air Force Base, CA for training purposes. Decalwise (besides the stencils) this model will be completely DIY. There are no such decals out there. It’ll be an adventure! #histscslemodels

I made some progress in the last 20 days. I applied more than 400 stencils, played with some new weathering techniques for metallic surfaces and assembled the most complex pitot on this planet. 😂

Final painting ✅. I had to repaint the black surfaces several times, because I wasn’t happy with the shapes. Metal surfaces also ✅! I made a lot of progress the last days and I like the result so far! 😁

First painting done. Unfortunately I had to repaint the darker gray. The first gray I chose (which was the one mentioned in the instructions) was way to dark. I’m quite happy with the result!

Update on the Fitter: I wasn’t happy with the looks of the wings. There was no space for the outer wings to fold into the inner wings. So I decided to hollow that out. Just to look more realistic. It’s not 100% accurate, but it does the job!

Nearly there! Just a few more little details (as e.g. RBF-ribbons): F-16C Block 42 in the legendary Wraith-Aggressor paint scheme. The Tamiya kit is just a walk in the park! 1/3
