Pokémon has never had *impressive* graphics, but starting with Gen II it had charming art direction that stayed comfortably within any technical limitations.

That ended in Sw/Sh, where the still strong art is hindered by pop-in and a stark difference in asset detail within the Wild Area.

Are you actually listening to the Pokémon theme song in the gym? (Didn't even have to google it, yay for my own limited Japanese!)

It wouldn't be my first choice, but it's clearly leading to more gains than I'll ever have :)
