Hearing while deaf - The Mind Hears
Had I been left out in such settings because of wheelchair inaccessibility, people would be aghast, and would engineer a remedy. Hearing loss, by contrast, is unseen and thus often unremedied.

The disruptions caused by the new US administration threaten to reduce access and equity for deaf/HoH people both inside and outside of academia in the US.
