I think the potential has been there since llanowar came back

I know that isnt the point of this post, but im so damn excited for that card. Like at first i was like "that design is so neat, shame i cant scam it", but then they made airbending and that seems so cool.

Ok maybe i dont play bracket 2 enough, because i dont usually find a lack of stuff on the board to be an issue by turn 5. I just think the 5 mana pet cards might need to make room for more cost efficient stuff so you can actually play the game early on. Also the stax identify crisis thing.

Lastly, and most importantly, we get to your actual question: once we know what we actually want to do, and we know how to get there, we can narrow down the expensive haymakers down to those that are most impactful for our gameplan. I think this deck needs very few 5s as aurelia already sits at 5.
December 2, 2025 at 2:41 AM
There are 43 lands in the deck, including the 8 mdfcs. Im a huge fan of mdfcs, but, as mdfc spells are usally more expensive than their single faced counterparts, this contributes to the high curve. While i get the argument that not every deck needs ramp, a deck with this curve might want some. ->

This seems like a video setup.
I think the first step is identifying what the deck actually wants to do - theres a rule of law and a birgi in the same deck, there are very few cheap creatures to play early and trigger aurelia yourself, but that's not the goal anyway, or so it seems. ->

Ye thats kinda my point

Its so wild that gut can pose as a "chill" card in commander whilst being scary good anywhere else (including most cubes)
November 28, 2025 at 4:08 PM
When you say Deadguy Ale do you only count "traditional" builds or are you including BW control? They can look pretty similar at times, but id assume the control build has more tools against goblins?
November 24, 2025 at 12:59 AM
True, i just mean that those two (and farseek) shape the perception of rg in the commander context. That and the prevalence of 2 mana rocks (that come with the downsides of being rocks, but effectively act as untapped ramp, making them cheaper to deploy especially when drawn after t2).
November 11, 2025 at 10:20 AM
I mean in commander you also have access to untapped 2 mana ramp, rampant growth just looks less exciting next to natures lore and three visits. Its just context really.

I was surprised by the cut marks and white spots on the edges with pack fresh riftbound cards. The fancy ones were usually fine but most commons and uncommons (or whatever rb calls them) wouldnt pass as NM fresh from the pack.

Revive jeska/ishai, i wanna see of that deck is somehow workable these days
October 7, 2025 at 7:28 PM
Also real nice synergy with the spark double that i shove in every blue-ish brawl deck for quad triggers (double on commander not chair obvsly)

Orzhov :)

The wisp! Modern blink is almost here
September 16, 2025 at 6:02 PM
I think its sadly very apparent that the set was intended to be smaller, not for standard and only scaled up later. Its a relatively small set that seems confused about its power level and identity and includes 31? Spidermen, among a cast of way to many legendary creatures.

Really been enjoying Modern, so thats my answer right now.
(I do love pauper and pioneer top tho, and i do play a lot of standard on arena)
September 3, 2025 at 10:11 PM
I mean yes, it sufficiently powercreeps the card, i guess.
