Body in the twin cities, mind in the 16th-early 20th century. Thomas Paine was robbed…and so were we.

Not saying that personal responsibility is an illusion nor that good environments will always result in good people…only that terrible environments act as a force for all creatures to do terrible things.
To me, what connects these two images is distress.

So much amazing analysis between 1945-1970 on leads people to become like this and not only did people with money ignore it….they set up an economic system around it.
Insecurity, no agency and lack of connection makes for an easily manipulated consumer + worker.
That shit also makes nazis.

That, and intel. I love this snippet about Edwin Layton…the naval intel officer who, along with his team, predicted the attack on Midway…
Basically: “WHAT DO YOU KNOW?? You’re not a WARRIOR!!”
Turns out, his “fat ass” knew a whole lot more than the “warriors” did.

Can someone who still has the capacity for theory of mind please make a social media site?
Then again, perhaps theory of mind is why they don’t.
Sigh.

I never paid much attention. But when someone reposted this, every alarm bell in my head went off.
Society has poisoned our ability to sit still and inhabit another’s mind. We cannot see using the spotlight of another. We just take what saturates our own cone until we can’t even see any detail.

Never paid much attention to Jay, but when I saw this post, I instantly became very worried about this site.
Communication is meant to share what we think, but, most importantly HOW we think.
Understanding other minds is crucial and you cannot do that if you pop in, grab what is shiny and run out

Exactly! Hey, if this is the messaging that works, so be it…but considering a small chocolate malt, a single patty cheeseburger and a small order of onion rings cost me $22 and change at Snuffy’s today…..
These prices ain’t cheap, but it doesn’t seem like fine dining prices.

Ezra should read Common Sense. Paine clears up why people think “wrong things are right” in the first two sentences…
Paine would also tell Klein that if people disagree with you but you are in the right, the answer is “I don’t care, I’m right.”

It’s fucking exhausting. All these “luminaries” going on and on about how you have to kowtow to what is popular.
Thomas Paine’s counterpoint: “What’s right is right and fuck you if you don’t like it.”

You are 100% correct. “The weakest should go to the wall” idea has been around for a long long time and goes hand in hand with fascism.
