Behavior when you try to access memory outside the array is implementation-dependent, often a segfault but often not instantly, as would be best.

The interesting part for me is figuring out how to do things concisely, gracefully. There's no cookie-cutter method for that; it needs flexibility. You might well find it tedious trying out dozens of variations, but the best way to do things is not at all obvious. I got quicksort down to 178 bytes.

It's not so much written in brainfuck (brainfuck doesn't have the needed i/o capabilities, for one thing). Rather, this is a pre-existing bash script (which they helpfully linked to) which has been run through a text-to-brainfuck tool to produce a brainfuck program that outputs that bash script.
