Relationship one has with said character than if you were deciding the voice for yourself, what if you choose a softer voice Vs the VA doing a stereotypical villain's voice? It's admittedly a very complicated subject and I don't really think there's a definitive answer. (2/2)

It really depends on the audiobook, but if we were to do the most frictionless-in-a-vacuum version of it, someone fully focussing on it could be almost comparable. The issue comes when there are embellishments. A voice actor putting on different voices for characters for example, changes the (1/2)

One can complete an audio book without paying attention, but can't realistically do so for a book. I don't think audiobooks are any less valid a medium, but to say they're comparable is kind of inaccurate in my opinion. (2/2)

I think there's a fundamentally different process which occurs when reading Vs listening to an audiobook. Unless you're closing your eyes and focussing entirely on the words being said, there are different levels of concentration required. (1/2)
