@iancohen.bsky.social Inquiring minds want to know: Have you changed your mind on Everything Everything's first LP Man Alive since you panned it for Pitchfork? A lot of your criticisms land but I love it anyway, and I'm curious about how you think it (and that very odd band) have aged. Thanks!

1/ I'm going to rant a little bit about the worst medical issue I've ever had, frozen shoulder, and how doctors deal with it.

If I could wave a magic wand and get rid of one ailment, it would be this one, way ahead of the type 1 diabetes, for a few reasons. Frozen shoulder is when the tissue...

The Problem in a nutshell.
One way that social media has driven people insane is by convincing them that political outcomes are shaped by the net allocation of care points and so politics consists in attempting to shape the amount of caring everyone dedicates to your pet issue.

Fuck. RIP. I fervently hoped D'Angelo had more records in him. I didn't really listen to him until Black Messiah came out, but it's one of the most essential records I own and easily in my top 3 of the decade it was released. share.google/UH9xxQ72pWH0...

Those of you who have never been to my beloved Grand Rapids, in case you assume I live in some dreary post-industrial hellhole where we all sit around cooking meth to bad Springsteen ripoff bands, this is my neighborhood

@lizloza.bsky.social Guessing you've never heard from as many angry people as you are today, but just in case, Ireland is definitely not in the UK, not even technically ❤️ Loved the podcast otherwise!

Good to see Bluesky go immediately to "Don't say this one thing, say this other thing"-type media criticism, like if you're right enough on the Internet often enough, there's some kind of political jackpot where bell hooks wakes up from her slumber and is named president for life

Saturday mood: Listening to the album Heartbeat by Chris and Cosey and doing fantasy mock drafts so I don't embarrass myself in any of the four leagues I'm drafting in this week.

Heartbeat is this delightful blend of synth-y dance music, samples from radio, ominous noises, and horniness.

Both of our animals follow me around pretty much all day because I'm here all day. The hilarious thing about that is their abject loathing for each other. Today, Garbo has the lap for the first time in ages, and she's giving Frankie a look that says, "Warriors, come out and plaaay"

Lauren finally joined me! And naturally, because we are nothing if not a man and woman of the people, we went to the northernmost #McDonalds on Earth. I had the vegan Mac and half a box of snacks. The chili cheese nuggets here are no joke and they should sell them stateside.

Nope, it's not the Aegean, it's #Sommarøy, a tiny town in #Norway built on an iron age settlement. I can see why people's ancestors were okay with settling here (at least until winter). Lots of birds and flowers as usual

Jacques Pépin is I think the nicest famous person I've met - super kind and unpretentious. We spoke when I applied for culinary school (didn't go). And that was 22 years ago! This sounds a little exhausting, even if he isn't going to all the parties, but good for him. www.nytimes.com/2025/07/23/d...

This is the face of an idiot who just spent $22 on an open faced shrimp sandwich at the airport that any idiot could've made for $3. Once I get on this plane in Oslo, it'll be leg 5 of 5 to get to the northernmost city on Earth.

I went to school here 34 years ago. Now it's owned by the Catholic Church, but I loved my school when I was a kid, and walking toward this mural made me so happy. #copenhagen

Leg 1 of 4, GRR>DET, is done. Now for DET-AMS, then AMS-CPH, a 24 layover in my favorite city on Earth (so far), then CPH-TOS. My pilot @lumminous.bsky.social is still recovering from a possible COVID infection in GRR, so unfortunately, I'm on my own for the first couple of days.

At GRR, starting the first leg of a very, very long trip. If I'm lucky, I'll be looking out over the Barents Sea inside of 96 hours.
