Darkened area of the woods. It's dark due to the side of the mountain I was on. Maple leaves litter the the forest floor. It was so quiet. No birds, no squirrels or chipmunks. No bugs. Just silence and the breeze blowing thru the trees.

Left some apples behind..
There was something big, loud, and I dunno what it was.
Going back down the mountain, trying to beat the sunset.. Left that very unnerving, loud, whatever it was, crashing thru the woods behind.

A sponge mushroom 🍄

A sponge mushroom. Most of the time, these kind of mushrooms are filled with magots and bugs. Eat at your own risk 🤢.. Yaa.. definitely time to go.. There was a heavy branch broken about 40 yards away, but couldn't see it due to thick brush. No growling, no rooting noises, so not a bear. If it was a cougar, it would have ran off by now. I'm making alot of noise.

Pretty mushroom, but don't pick this one. Not safe to eat. That noise is getting longer in duration. The branches are still being broken. But don't see any bear, cougar or elk..

Looking up at the Douglas firs.first.. They are sooo tall. At this point, I'm starting to hear a very loud, hard to describe, noise coming from the woods. There is also heavy braches breaking, but don't see or smell any animals 🤔
