DHS are not legally classified as "military" (with Coast Guard sorta kinda occupying a strange liminal space between the DHS and DoD).
They are entirely separate cultures with different systems of laws governing them, ie Posse Comitatus and such, with DHS being a lot closer to being "cops" than DoD

Personally, I've been training for precisely that for a very long time, so the first thing I'll do is hope that they're wearing Level IV plates to at least make it somewhat interesting.
