IIRC they stopped doing it in the late teens, then there was a one-off exception with 2024's Year of the Dragon Crimsonflame (surprisingly significant retool of The Last Knight deluxe Steelbane).
(I'm slightly annoyed we don't have a TF with a rooster alt mode for my Chinese Zodiac collection.)

And I'm not sure if this eventually happens or not, since still week 3, but I'd love a feature to replay battles and play around more with party compositions and skills.
Even if not, I've still had a lot of fun with the game and love the art and music. (Tuesday Overworld is an amazing track.)

Hmm... I've got 3 weeks left to the apocalypse, and don't recognize that boss. So I look forward to seeing what horrors it unleashes, and would love to see more stick figure concept art!

My absolute favorite thing about Rise of Skywalker is the character Ochi (who you won't recall because he's barely mentioned/featured but he ties the ENTIRE forward momentum of the plot together)

It has a bunch of his production art from 0079 and Origin.
Including a large chunk of the animatic of the sword fight between Amuro and Char.
The Bright slap.
The original painted trilogy posters.

It is a solid game, but any meaningful connection to the story depends on you already knowing who the characters are.
So maybe check out the 13 episode OVA series from the 90s. It would ground you in who most of the characters are, and is a solid straightforward fantasy D&D campaign story.
