Yesterday was Jack Kirby's birthday. I think often of this panel. His heroes often took on abstracted looks, the cloth seeming to mold with the skin itself. Here you see them as people. Stretches on the mask, eyes shadowed beneath a helmet. Two lovers together, intimate, before going into battle.
