The course will try to explain reasons for mass support for totalitarian ideologies & states on the basis of individual psychology. We'll examine psychological explanations of self-victimization, role of victim & perpetrator, majority society response to mass human rights abuses, & the abusive past

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Totalitarian ideologies like Nazism & Communism mobilized irrationally motivated mass support and won power in a short time. Their success was partially based on a mass propaganda, using fear as primary instinctive argument against a picture of both external & internal enemies.
