I think I felt very lonely in this room full of people. And I think that's different from enjoying being alone. Loneliness on the other hand isn't necessarily enjoyable.

Like, there is something deeply disheartening about me showing up for the host and then just sitting awkwardly by myself. It's frustrating that we live in a world where the survival strategy is "bring a friend" because no one wants to make a new friend.

Unrelated-ish question: does your book touch on ADHD at all? Or like ADHD-related forms of food aversion? I am pretty sure mine aren't all sensory but it's an interesting time trying to navigate my relationship with food!

The way I'm wrapping my brain around what you're saying is: on the outside, it can *look* like "picky eating", but there may be a vast array of reasons behind that blanket term and using this term allows you to serve all of those reasons, which is awesome.
