Lefty ratbag, looking for a way forward. Long covid 18mos from Nov 22, recovered now. Crazy cat lady, part time uni student, overwhelmed gardener. Mama to 28yo daughter, 20yo enby, 17yo trans girl. Cheerfully reinventing myself. Tasmania/lutruwita.
Our first and most intransigent feral girl Rhea, finally allowed out of her post-surgery recovery pen, contemplates becoming an inside cat. It took years to get to this point. IDK how we're going to fit her in considering we have too many cats already, but we'll figure something out.

These two cuties were trapped in our garden the other day and taken to a rescue. Mum is still around but very wild, so we couldn't find anywhere who could take her too 😞 Guess I'll just have to trap her and work on winning her over myself so we can get her spayed, as I did with our feral matriarch.

What is this thing we have of taking photos of our cats when they are up by the ceiling? Could it be that any part of the house below head height is currently far too chaotic for public consumption? Pugsley says yes.

Styx may be regretting his life choices here.

Clingy cat escaped a second time and has been refusing to come anywhere near the house for several days - not even for food. This is the only time she's let me get close, and she disappeared under the shed immediately afterwards. I have no idea what is going on in her head?

Bottling today - the first time I have hauled out my preserving kit since before I got covid in November 2022. First batch was poached quinces (home grown). Aren't they gorgeous? 😍

As well as mushrooms, autumn in the Huon Valley is forestry burnoff season 🤔 A dinosaur industry which can't go extinct fast enough. We need to keep carbon in our ancient native forests, not cut them down for woodchips and release vast amounts of greenhouse gases by incinerating the waste biomass.

Autumn is mushroom season.

Democracy has been properly exercised at the Tasmanian state election. Even if it is depressing that the two major parties don't seem to have any significant differences between their policies, at least this election the P&C had democracy sausages available.

Tales of a laundry basket. It was occupied by a succession of cats today, and I didn't have the heart to take it away from them. It is currently vacant, so I might take the opportunity to put it away before someone else gets in.

After a year of long covid, it took a while to realise that I had finally gotten to a point where exercise is good for me instead of destructive to my health, and it is still hard to trust that I'm not going to regress if I overdo it. But I'm at the point where I can see it on my Visible app scores.

Apparently Beaker is dissatisfied with his current living situation and wishes to be posted elsewhere.

We had an echidna visit the garden this morning, coming quite close to the house (this spot is near the back door). I have seen them trundling around occasionally in the neighbourhood, but never gotten anywhere near this close ❤️ Hopefully it will stick around and eat all the nasty jack jumper ants.

Domino sends season's greetings and good will to all hoomans, unless they try to stop him sleeping on the presents. Merry Christmas.
