#nanowrimo I hadn't planned on doing much writing today. I was mostly just going through and patching up some sections that needed a bit of work. And yet, here I am with my word count goal met. I am 2500 words away from being finished. I am both proud and relieved.

#ttrpg I do want to get character progression in place. There will be no levels or Karma. Character progression will all be in character and progress based. So if it is specialized gear, training in obscure skills, new magic, it will be up to the players to seek people out for training.

#ttrpg on the bright side I am proud of my setting. It is designed to facilitate play and to give players a sense of purpose. I'm also happy with the rules. I'm going to start play testing in January. I want to spend December typing up my rules and making rule summary sheets.

#nanowrimo I'm at 45000 words! Hooray! I've been spending this morning organizing the document a bit and I've read some of the passages I've written. Yeah this is going to have to be edited quite a bit.

While I have no one to play blood bowl with I am back to playing board games regularly and I have a group of friends willing and excited to play the ttrpg I've written and everyone wants to play magic. So I'm in a good place and I'm very grateful.

I mostly want the Bretonnian team. I love their play style and I love the idea of using Grail Knights to just do crazy stuff. I love making big snazzy plays and I feel like they are the team for me.

I want to get the new edition of bloodbowl but I don't really have anyone to play with. It isn't popular in my area and to be honest I hate playing a league setting. I keep trying to teach friends but it isn't clicking with them.

I've been working on painting miniatures more. It is something I enjoy but it is something I am also pretty terrible at. Right now I'm pretty focused on getting some of my blood bowl teams painted. It's a work in progress but I'm happy I'm doing it.

#nanowrimo I hit 40k words. I am pretty proud of myself. I've been on an absolutely brutal 8 day work stretch but I've managed to hit my word count goals almost every single day. Tomorrow I will rest. Then I will be back at it.

#ttrpg I'm currently writing a Starfinder heart breaker. That's fine. A setting where you can do everything you do in Starfinder but the way I want it done. I'm considering adding an avenue to play masked vigilantes. I think it would be fun and the setting supports it but I dunno.

Every time I do #nanowrimo around the 30k mark I get this weird urge to quit. There is just something about having done so much and still having so much more to go. It doesn't matter how much I love or hate what I'm writing it just happens every time.

My favorite thing about #nanowrimo is that it gives me the push to do the boring work. Like writing about technology levels. It is important and it gives me a picture of how my setting works but it is boring. So boring that I've been researching my friend's engineering homework. I'm not an engineer

Today I was brainstorming campaign ideas for my own game or Starfinder and I came up with the idea that a ship with an intelligent AI adopts the players because it believes they will help if reunite with another ship they fell in love with. I badly want to run that campaign.

My favorite thing about #TTRPG books is that the books themselves are not a story. They are designed to make you want to tell stories. They are a form of writing specifically designed to generate more. From this small book we hope that you will produce multitudes and I think that's beautiful.

#nanowrimo I am officially half way done! I decided to take 8 days off this month to give myself some extra time to work on it and man has it paid off. Today is the last day of my vacation and I feel accomplished. Now to eat a grilled cheese sandwich and watch anime.

#ttrpg #nanowrimo Alright 17500 words down! I got half the races detailed, a bunch of history written, and a few mysteries to go explore. It is shaping up. I feel like I should do an entry on a major city, space station, and flotilla just to give a feeling of what life is like.

So many of my friends want to go back to playing #mtg. Specifically they want to go back to playing it with me. But I haven't played magic for like two months now and I don't miss it. I know I'm going to go back and we'll do magic night again but I dunno man magic bums me out sometimes.

I'm doing a #ttrpg instead of a novel but I wanted the book to be written in character. But I order to do that I need characters and in order to get those I gotta figure out who everyone is and how they all fit together and it is working. Slowly. The more I write the more it comes together.

#nanowrimo I hit 12000 words sometime last night. I can't tell you how helpful Nano is in just getting me to write. I haven't registered with the page, I don't participate in any events, I don't even know if it is still running. But just the idea of it all is enough to keep me going.

@shivambhatt.bsky.social once commented that WoTC went through a phase where their depictions of faith were deeply cynical and disingenuous. It made me realize I do the same thing. However, it has made me realize that when depicting faith in my writing to be better about it.

#starfinder was particularly bad about it. They would introduce these new playable races, just sorta dump them on the gm, and go here is literally no information about them. Players would grab these things, and end up just playing different flavored humans, well not in my game.

One of the things I want to do with my #ttrpg is give a little detail to my "races" section. One of my favorite series of books were the brown covered ultimate guide to X books from 2nd edition D&D and the clan books from Vampire. I wish we still made products like that.

#Nanowrimo I just hit my daily word count coal and 7500 words. I'd like to push forward to 10,000 today but I definitely need a break. I'm enjoying working on my TTRPG I find rpg writing much more natural than straight fiction. I've done enough novels over the years to know it isn't my favorite.

I plan on doing #nanowrimo this year! I'm going to mildly cheat and use it to write the background information for a ttrpg I've been developing. It is sci-fi and involves planet hopping and I'm hoping I can use this 50k goal as a jumpstart to make something neat.
