My grandmother used to go to the juke joint with her sisters in their father’s car. He couldn’t drive it anyway because his license was suspended for DUI. He used to make and sell “hooch”. #Sinners was a real life experience for a lot of ppl in the south.

My great grandfather owned sharecrops. My grandmother told me how ppl would be out there trying to make their quota and sometimes would put fruit in the bag to try and weigh it down. So those scenes in #Sinners hit home a little bit. Sidenote my great grandfather was a black man.
