I’m learning more about Oregon’s shady eugenics past, and honestly, some of the present too. Wild how deep it goes. I didn’t realize how pervasive ableism was until I experienced it firsthand. The Oregon Board of Eugenics forcibly sterilized its last victim in 1981, but the culture still lingers.

Every time the seasons change it seems to trigger a response in my MS fatigue and brain fog but the summers are by far the worst. I don’t think people understand how much effort disabled folks have to put into controlling our environment just to function at a fraction of what others are used to.

There aren’t enough people like you out there, and your efforts for transparency are appreciated!

I had to submit yet another retaliation complaint today (it just keeps getting worse), but this tops it. This is why it feels like it’s not even worth it. Nobody cares about the disabled. I didn’t realize our country was like this until I experienced it first-hand, and now it’s clear as day.

I was watching a King of the Hill episode where Strickland Propane got caught dumping waste in the river, and to help improve the company’s reputation Hank decided to start “going green” only for his boss to decide to buy deceiving carbon offsets. Sounds like the same gimmick for a different cause.

I’ve experienced years of institutional betrayal at work, and I’m realizing this isn’t rare. It’s systemic. Why do we keep tolerating this? Are we too numb, too scared, or just too self-absorbed to fight back?

Thanks, I forgot about this article. Thanks for staying on top of all these developments.

Good grief… Do you know if there are any planned changes to 504?

As a Kansas City native, I was surprised he opposed it, but not surprised he caved under pressure. Let’s not forget Josh Hawley helped incite the J6 riot, then ran like a scared child when it kicked off. Seems like he approaches his job the same way he spreads his propaganda.

This is so sad. In other countries, healthcare is a right. But over here, we’re constantly looking for the easiest ways to take what little we do provide away from the most vulnerable people who actually need those services.

100%! This past year, my MS has progressed significantly, and as I’ve needed to take time off to recover from exacerbations—dealing with extreme fatigue and brain fog—it’s become painfully clear that my supervisor doesn’t care. They only seem to care when my disability is visible.

Heard that dude did something with a couch, so I guess he’s in the furniture biz. But apparently he’s also the face of Maybelline’s new “maybe he’s wearing Maybelline” campaign.

At the University of Oregon, I can’t even get my boss to participate in the interactive process, and when I filed a complaint with the civil rights office, they tried to bury it without due process and when I called that out they shared my medical records with a 3rd party w/o my consent. Very rigged

It’s wild how fast—and confidently—they’re escalating their messaging to a broader audience. Feels very deliberate. Makes all the recent billionaire theater look like strategic posturing to control both sides of the narrative.

Unfortunately our union doesn’t protect civil rights. Maybe this will help change that, but based off personal experience, I’m not holding my breath..

As a classified SEIU 503 staff member, I would love nothing more than to believe the union would defend their own, but the truth is that our union is spineless, especially when it comes to civil rights. They have a long history is institutional silence when it comes to civil rights.

I relate deeply. Silencing and isolation nearly broke me. I’m speaking out because justice demands it. Institutions failed me, I’m reclaiming my voice, organizing for accountability, and pushing for a system rooted in care, not exploitation.

After years of retaliation, I filed a complaint in Dec 2024. UO refused to investigate, claimed no policies were broken, and ignored my questions about why. I later learned they shared my disability info with a 3rd-party vendor—Grand River Solutions—without my knowledge or consent.
