Surveillance on the MCTS?

I'm guessing they're security cameras. Was there a press release about this that I missed?

Guess who found an anthill?

Thank God there's fish-bean ice cream, the best ice cream snack.

Goodies from a quick trip through the neighborhood.

Honorable mention to the teddy bear cookie jar that I heavily contemplated purchasing.

A little late in the season, I'm putting away my creche.

I've been thinking a lot about this family lately and what they would say about the world we've created.

I wonder what the world will look like the next time we meet.

My lil guy and his lil toe beans. Relaxing at its finest.

Protests in LA, dozens of police and their vehicles stand waiting under a viaduct.

The face looked like the symbol on my favorite NYC restaurant, KENKA. It's hard to see, but much like this caricature the mask has a whistling mouth and the carving around the face looks like the same kind of scarf.

I was struck by the similarity and bought the little mask for $3.

The world may be changing, but I'm still out here buying mildly cursed items.

This is something I found at my regular thrift spot. They had a display loosely related to Chinese New Year, but this item is actually Japanese.

I thought it looked familiar, but I didn't know its full story...

It's very cool! They also have very cool plans for it in the new museum. Our digital editor Valeria took some amazing photos of it, but I got this one of its backside.

It's HUGE.

When I look at the rolling hills and prairies of my homeland, I can’t help but wonder: how quickly would it take?

When you see the photos of skeletal corpses lying in the mud, it looks like a place where terrible things are meant to happen.

What you don’t see are the flowers and the butterflies; you don’t see the beautiful Polish villages replaced by this horror. All you see is the horror that replaced them.

If you’ve never been to a concentration camp, they’re hard to describe. But if I’m honest, what struck me most was the beauty. Wannsee, Auschwitz, and Mathausen are situated in some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world.

The year before at Auschwitz I, they had done a test-run of the use of gas on Polish and Soviet prisoners of war housed there. This is the building where that happened.

A couple months after Wannsee, the gas chambers at Auschwitz II-Birkenau were operational.

In some ways, this is where the Holocaust began: Wannsee, a nearby suburb of Berlin where Germans go for vacation. If you go there, you’ll see why. It’s a beautiful place.

This building is the location where senior Nazi officials met in 1942 to organize the Holocaust.

Daaaaamn. It's moments like these where I wish Gary was still alive to see just how much of an impact he's had on the world.

I still think of him just sitting on the porch playing pinochle, watching me and my sister at the park to make sure we didn't die on the swings.

I got so many amazing gifts from loved ones this year, but these earrings from my mom are one of the most interesting items. They're made from paint that was removed in layers from the Berlin Wall.

A really fascinating use of materials with a historical connection!
