Halloween kicks ass, even if it was rainy and we didn't get as many trick or treaters as last year

Not a confectioner or very skilled with tempering chocolate but decided to try making some peanut butter spiceballs in white chocolate that look like ghosts.
I need to practice more

He's still mad that Americans half his age more quickly picked up on obvious parts of Nazi regalia

I was wrong. He's mad because other people are more capable of discerning information in a shorter period of time.
60 years of WWII films and it never stood out for him.
He's just insecure in his ability to notice

Dapple Dan Auto Dog had his final goodbye on Wednesday, October 15th 2025. In the days prior he was given all the foods once denied to him due to his autoimmune condition. Long time friends had a chance to say farewell.
We love you so much, Weenie Dan, and miss you more than words can do justice

But it wasn't a silver bullet and the cancer spread to his bladder. Dan's energy and liveliness continued despite it. Dan made it past his birthday and into Fall. We treated him to new experiences such as roaming free in the un-fenced yard where he could eat blueberries right from the bush

In early August of 2024 Dan's coat started thinning rapidly with his vet presuming it was Cushings. After a series of tests and imaging it would reveal that Dan had prostate cancer. His oncologist did not expect him to make it to December.
Fortunately - the Yale vaccine slowed things down.

Dan and Egan would be joined by another Collar of Hope adoptee, Finley. Initially Dan had a rough time getting along with Finley. While Dan knew how to listen, walk nicely on a leash, and how to play gently - Finley did not. Over time they would grow closer and play often, much to Egan's annoyance

Dan blossomed back into a wild and healthy dog, though he lost access to the majority of proteins he previously could enjoy. Spending time in dog parks, camping, and playing with Egan and various toys and games became the norm.

Some time after Egan joined us Dan experienced an episode where he appeared to have an allergic reaction. Following this Dan began acting lethargic & having issues with digestion. The next few years saw many vets and specialists until we confirmed he had an autoimmune disorder. We began treatment.

We would go on to adopt Egan from Collar of Hope as they had previously brought Campbell into our lives. Having a smaller and younger playmate rekindled excitement in Dan, even if the new guy didn't understand how to play with toys or do any tricks.

Dan believed himself to be a bigger, tougher dog than he was due to being raised with Bruce and Campbell, our rottweilers. Bruce's in depth training rubbed off on Dan and contributed to how social and confident he was. Both Bruce and Campbell would pass in the same year and Dan seemed lonely

Dapple Dan Auto Dog joined our family in August of 2013 shortly before he turned two when his then owners were moving and couldn't keep him. At the time his name was Bentley and we met him in the parking lot of the Tacoma Mall.
Our oldest dog, Bruce, immediately became close with him
