Lovable idiot. Probably writing words somewhere. Music, books, food/booze, exercise, general goofiness. Queer and southern, based in Nashville. He/him
Some two-decade old newspaper headlines I found while doing research:

“Musicians play sports in addition to music”

“Gays getting greater media prominence”

(I love the second one. It has that ominous ring to it, though the article was pretty positive)

Thing I have only just learned today because I am an idiot: slicing your finger open on aluminum foil is actually possible, and it is every bit as horrifying as you might imagine.

Shout out to the lucky fella or lady in New Orleans who wound up with the sunglasses I left on the bar at Good Friends last weekend. I hope they’ll treat you as well as they did me.

This may be the first year that I don’t think I can name a song by any of the Best New Artist nominees, which is sorta embarrassing but also I guess means that I’m old now.

It’s none of my business but who are people at the gym talking to on the phone at 6 am? Like, my partner would divorce me if I tried that with him, so I am being a bit judgy rn

Have been in Utah for long enough (5 days) that I am wondering if my life will be complete without an overlanding van

RIP Kaleb Horton, one of the most dazzling, funny, kind, & truly original writers to ever grace this endangered medium.

I was lucky enough to edit him for the most popular piece we ever did theLAnd. A strange poultry odyssey of true brilliance. thelandmag.com/pioneer-frie...

There are two Pioneer Chickens left in Los Angeles: One in Boyle Heights and one in Bell Gardens. I made it my mission to see both.

Once & for all, let's specify what "poptimism" was & wasn't, and why many people can't stop blaming it for every cultural change of the past 20 years. Most recently the esteemed Kelefa Sanneh, who's often (wrongly) said to have started it! Today in @slate.com

Also just remembered I muscled several packs of shingles up a ladder (a practical weightlifting application, yay!) and onto a roof on Sunday, so maybe that had something to do with it
Need you all to know that I did something horrible to my back yesterday. Not at the gym while trying to lift something heavy, but after, when I was trying to pick up a shoe.

Does teenage Taylor Swift in the tiny conference room of my first job count?

If not, Alabama Shakes at the Basement (150 capacity) in 2011 and Sturgîll Simpson at the same venue in 2013ish, before either had blown up.
What is your biggest concert flex?

David Byrne telling anecdotes about Lou Reed’s prodigious ice cream consumption is everything.

Bravo, @simonwilliam.bsky.social
David Byrne talks about hanging with Lou Reed in the Seventies:

“I remember when we met, he was eating an incredible amount of ice cream. I think he went through two of those quart containers of Häagen-Dazs ice cream in one sitting.”
