- Carcinoid tumors are rare, often slow-growing tumors that form from neuroendocrine cells found throughout the body. Carcinoid tumors most commonly arise in the gastrointestinal system, but may occur in other sites, including the lungs.

- Lung cancer, both small cell and non-small cell, is the second most common cancer in the U.S. Most people diagnosed with lung cancer are 65 or older.

- Stomach cancer, also known as gastric cancer, mostly affects older people. The average age of people when diagnosed is 68.
