Most modern sci-fi, where doom is the central plot device, isn't just tediously unimaginative, it's antithetical to the what actually makes sci-fi a unique genre, and in fact a danger to the human experience that has forever used storytelling to imagine a better world for ourselves.

It's a love story to classic sci-fi, the kind that had so many of us watching the night sky, wondering who was watching back.

okay, glad I'm not crazy. people keep suggesting it like it's some incredible piece of work and I'm most of the way through the first season and just see a lot of squandered potential and cheap emotional gore. I could see it getting it's act together? but if it's downhill from here....
