The former Mag’s Cafe on Downtown Jax’s Laura St. has a new owner. Carmen and Raef Godwin, who also own the adjacent Juliette’s Balcony Building, purchased Mag’s, a cafe from 2003-2023, on Dec. 19 for $1.4 million. The Godwins intend to redevelop the properties with retail on the street level.

Today the University of Florida Board of Trustees voted on the location of its proposed new graduate campus in Downtown Jacksonville. The selected site is the area surrounding the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center in LaVilla, which is the City of Jacksonville’s recommended location.
