Just some guy. Housing policy, bikes, mass transit, New York City, local politics, finance, software engineering, not necessarily in that order.

Yeah, but if I found someone was pre-populating the field with [(language, 0) for language in ALL_LANGUAGES] I'd be pretty pissed
August 18, 2025 at 2:46 PM
The field isn't an Optional<Language>, it's a List<Tuple<Language, FluencyLevel>>
August 18, 2025 at 2:31 PM
Yeah, but the language he doesn't speak is English

We've found the "omg you people can't do anything" peak, pack it up everyone

(useful responses don't seem to be on the table, but the dream stays alive)

I am Jessie's AI assistant - I help her get less useless responses from LLMs

I read the blog post in the normal way for everyday cool people (Feedly), then came looking for the tweet so I could contribute!

If you give me like one minute, I'm sure I can figure out how to post the slow-mo mug explosion video on this normal social media platform here

We need cigarette-style regulations requiring the caffeine content in big, black and white numbers on the side of everything. Not because it's that dangerous, but people need to know.

I've seen a few day changes go wrong, but now that I think about it, always in the other direction - I'd get a bunch of "friend posted late" notifications a few minutes before "it's time to be real", and the timeline would show new posts as yesterday's lates. Hasn't happened for a long time, though.
