Hot off the press! I’m super excited to dig into Tyler Williams book, If All the World Were Paper: A History of Writing in Hindi (Columbia UP).

This moment is replicated in the snatra puja, in which (typically) a Jain couple become Indra and Indrani and lustrate an image of Mahavir in the samosaran, which is both Mt Meru and the divinely constructed lecture hall where he will (later) give his sermons.
