The failure of the A555, in terms of its propensity to flood, is one for Stockport Council to resolve with the contractors who designed and / or constructed the road.

The public deserve to know what steps are in progress to resolve this problem and how long it will take for them to be resolved.

The blindingly obvious point is that transforming the statutory services is a long term game which the Council have miserably failed to embrace over the last 15 years. A section 114 Notice beckons me think.

A 2030 start for any Stockport line is another fanciful, politically driven statement.

Parliamentary approvals required, probable compulsory purchase orders
needed and, most important of all, a robust business case for investment to be published (and scrutinised!).

Whatever the economic arguments, costs and benefits there are to move the Freightliner depot the one thing that can be said with certainty is that such a relocation will not happen quickly. This throws into question both the timing of,and the cost of, the proposed Stadium.

12 years from concept to delivery.

It does appear excessive but the Council and TfGM commenced discussions on this proposal in 2018. So anything that can speed this much needed transformational piece of infrastructure is to be welcomed. If supported for investment - probably circa years from concept to delivery. Quick in UK terms!
