Previously on twitter. Bird stuff, #worstbirdpic's, and carbs. He/him loosely Please assume massive apologies to Canada and all other allies.
Ha, well done! What a magnificent bird probably!
Here's mine, taken just last week. I suppose I thought it was a great scientific comparison of two shorebird species. You're welcome, science.

That is really interesting and also tragic.

Yes. Yes it would.

Bread puddings are often dry, IMO. I won't order one anymore. (Though a donut one might sway me.) I've made quite a few (savory ones and sweet ones), too, and they do in fact often turn out drier than expected.

Just now seeing this. (Have been out of town. Details and pics to come.) I can't say I have but I like the idea. Especially if it looks anything like THAT!

Ack!, well then me too! I just looked and eBird had a Western for me in British Columbia last year. Thanks for this info! I hadn't seen the news.

Isn't that eye weird?! The location is in central Ohio. It's an old quarry, so the water is fairly deep (and obvs fresh-water). Not too much vegetation around the quarry. The spot is known for attracting diving ducks in colder months. 🪶

It was really really far away and it was the first fun duck of the season so I really wanted to ID it. As always, quantity did not automatically produce quality. 🪶

Thanks for the input, everyone. (Oh and sorry here are the terrible originals.) It def. had Ruddy Duck vibes from a distance, but the white near the bill confused me. Ring-necked intrigues me, but the white on the tail is confusing. 🪶

Ha, noted! I knew there must be a trick to it.
