He doesn't want others to get hurt because of him. But even doing that doesn't save many he encounters. The entity is a true monster yet any time Ivan would be in danger of death Ivrik takes over protecting him.

But unlike a demon or an evil spirit Ivan was born with Ivrik apart of him in a natural way. Ivrik is a monster of pure primal power one that makes even the most horrifying entities of any lore seem tame. Ivan who know goes by the name of the entity Ivrik stays away from others as much as possible.

The ranger took name Richard took him in naming him Ivan but later as a young child Ivan would talk about someone he became friends with named Ivrik. Richard chopped it up to be an imaginary friend but when Ivan turned 14 the truth finally came out Ivrik was an entity within Ivan.

Backstory:

Ivrik was abandoned as a baby in a national park in Michigan one that had always had reports of strange activities and events throughout history. A park ranger found him and took him to the hospital finding out he was only a few weeks old.
