I finally did it

Told the boss he’s useless and I’m leaving the company

Feelin’great!

(I’m the boss. When does it all stop)

Welp it finally happened after 10 years

Broke a drumstick on my electric kit

Bad start to the year

It’s not a small decision but from others I’ve seen in this situation, the most profitable solution is to start your own business.

Consulting economics =/= employee economics

“Too senior” now becomes a point of differentiation for a consulting offer.
Starting to hate being really good at what I do professionally but being told I’m “too senior” to do it anywhere in exchange for money to purchase goods and services.

I’ll probably get crucified for this but Proper Twelve - conor mcgregor’s whiskey - is really not bad especially for the price…

Running a service-business is simply getting used to whiplash

One month: terrible
Next month: best one ever

One day: Client leaves
Next day: other client wants to upgrade

Repeat for eternity

Revenue leaks you might not see:

• Deals slipping between stages
• Inconsistent follow-up on hot leads
• Campaigns built on incomplete data
• Can't tell why good leads aren't closing

Sound familiar? Your HubSpot might need a health check 🏥

I literally run a hubspot operations agency and our CRM was a MESS for awhile...

the classic "cobbler's children have no shoes" situation over here.

took me forever to get our pipelines, automations, required fields, and reporting right as I kept testing pricing models, onboarding, and hiring

I’ve realized I mentally don’t know what to do on a social platform that isn’t filled with rage bait

(I’m so happy)

Pro tip: If your HubSpot dashboards take more than 30 seconds to explain, they're probably not getting used.

Start with one question you need answered daily. Build from there.

Simple dashboards get used. Complex ones get ignored.

Signs you need a dedicated CRM owner:

• Teams keeping separate spreadsheets
• Conflicting numbers across departments
• Basic reports taking hours to prepare
• Duplicate records everywhere

Your tech is only as good as the strategy behind it. Who's managing yours?

Quick HubSpot reality check:

Multiple deal pipelines? ✓
Custom deal properties? ✓
Actually documenting when to use each? 🦗 🦗 🦗 🦗 🦗 🦗

Your team can't read your mind. Document your CRM rules or watch adoption tank.

Haven’t followed many people yet or created/followed feeds

But scrolling through bluesky gives me that early social media feeling

A wide range of people/accounts all joining a platform and just kinda…figuring it out

Pretty refreshing honestly

The most expensive line in HubSpot isn't a subscription fee - it's 'I'll clean up these fields later'

Your automated workflows are only as good as your data structure. When's the last time you audited your required properties?
November 18, 2024 at 10:44 PM
One of the best and easiest HubSpot hacks we learned this year:

audit your 'Lead Status' property

if you see contacts stuck in 'New' or 'In Progress' for >14 days, you're probably sitting on forgotten opportunities worth 10-15% of your pipeline
November 18, 2024 at 10:44 PM
noticed your sales team is building one-off email sequences instead of using templates?

that's not a training issue - it's a sign your CRM processes aren't matching how your team actually sells

fix the system, not the symptom
November 18, 2024 at 10:44 PM
your HubSpot CRM isn't messy because your team is lazy - it's messy because you never defined what 'clean' looks like

quick test: ask 3 teammates when a deal should be created
bet you get 3 different answers
