Damn, and here I was going to snarky reply with “All six of them”…

But yes, this would be a fantastic option for anywhere with transit options or to support a *real* transit system. Only fear I have is that it instead becomes an excuse to pull crap like in TX with toll roads.

Has anyone checked if Paul Bremer is available?

I mean, it *is* a pretty innovative way to potentially be killed…

Shit, man…now I’m going to have to get that factory in Bangladesh to change the number on the hats…
December 22, 2025 at 1:33 AM
Honestly I think given the complexity it might be more like this…

Jurassic Park makes it seem this is going to go very poorly for me…
December 20, 2025 at 12:41 AM
Agreed. The manufacturers have proven themselves entirely untrustworthy.
December 15, 2025 at 3:35 PM
Fortunately it looks like at least some of them passed before they had to witness this stupidity.

What you’re witnessing is a death match between the last two surviving brain cells.

On the plus side, he can’t make AI any stupider than it already is.

That’s some real limp dick energy…

I have taken to cycling handles every decade or so to avoid a traceable path over time. It’s ridiculous, but I learned very early on online (mid-90s?) that anonymity leads people to do very stupid things, and the only counter is to remain anonymous yourself.

It has the same energy as all those y’allqueda types on TikTok trying so desperately to look hard.

(2) Here in TX however they’re too busy using the system to “back the blue”, notifying the entire state when an officer is attacked. Never once received communications about flooding or fire, or more locally when EOD was in a neighborhood one over doing a controlled demo on some homemade explosives.

(1) It’s profound how badly some govt orgs are screwing this up. The population carries on it, in vast quantities, a tool (in mobile phones) that the govt can use to send precise geographically targeted communication regarding life threatening events.
August 28, 2025 at 11:20 AM
The reason is in the name. It’s a tool. This is most companies acting like the garage tool junky who buys a lathe but doesn’t know what they’re going to use it for. That coupled with the fact that the output needs to be verified in many cases and you’re left wondering what you’re doing.

Not to in any way diminish the magnitude of the situation in the UK, but selfishly there’s solace in the fact that we (the UK and US) are both well and fully fucking ourselves up. At least we’re not lonely here on the other side of the pond.

Having also been subjected to good ol’ Chippy I am compelled to agreed, except that Doggett is getting up there in years. It *could* afford an opportunity for a younger rep to be voted in (assuming the gerrymandering bullshit didn’t totally eviscerate the district).

Does this necessitate their habitation move with you? If it always must be within walking distance there must be some sort of boundary where their location needs to move as well as they begin to exceed the condition as you go about your day.

Or tongue in this case
July 26, 2025 at 2:09 PM
Yeah, it’s a fucking fiasco (and never something they’ll fix because to allow one to suppress these alerts would suggest they don’t “back the blue”)
July 10, 2025 at 8:21 PM
Sadly not in a manner that also allows you to receive standard emergency alerts. Instead of having a unique classification (like Amber alerts) these are sent over the standard EMA channel, so if you disable these you lose all the important stuff too (assuming it is ever used).
July 10, 2025 at 5:46 AM
It’s like some ridiculous PR campaign to make sure we all know how hard their jobs are.

This is happened numerous times, where they’ve issued alerts (sometimes in the dead of night) for events that have occurred hundreds of miles away.

So they definitely know how the EMA system works…
