After a visit to Waterstones I saw something in there that has sparked a whole list of ideas for bookbinding projects! Nice to feel inspired after a period of flat. I’ve ordered some 1mm board to push on with them.

Sorry I’ve been quiet - my real job has been taking precedence. Anyway, I’m here! Hullo. What’ve I missed, please?

I’ve listed some notebooks on eBay.co.uk and to find them, search for PaperFold notebooks. They should come up, if you fancy buying any.

I am production ready! I can start to sell the handmade note- and sketch- booklets just as soon as I can sort out how to post things to sell on eBay. Wish me luck!

Eight more done. I’m less keen on this card for the covers. Good job it was cheap. Anyway, the process is slowing improving. Bookbinding - well, pamphlet binding - is rather fun.

Considering going for a trot outside to wake myself up. It’s only just past seven and I’ve been ready for bed quite literally hours. Just made the sections for 8 more booklets. Will do the covers and sewing tomorrow eve.

Rather absurdly proud of these!

Test softcover 64p booklets being nipped. Rather pleasing to make. I’m slowly improving my art here. Think these need tape along the spine to reinforce. I’ll look into that.

Lots of knitting happening, too. Sadly, I’ve come down with the lurgy just as I’m supposed to be recording the first episode of the year. PAH.

I’ve bought machinery for the bookbinding this week. It’s not getting out of hand. This is all part of a plan to get a return on the investment. Exciting!

Flushed with success from the first softcover notebook I’ve ordered some more kit to help with the bookbinding. I hope I don’t come to regret it…

I’ve ordered a mount cutter. I think rather than splashing heaps of money on a Dahle guillotine this could be a cost-effective way forwards. Tomorrow, I’ll make a hardcover notebook. Excited by that!

My first ever softcover notebook! 48pages. I was rushing and cocked up the length of thread first try which made this longer than it should have been to make, but very excited! Reckon I can get it under 10min easily with practice.

My Ratchford’s order has been despatched! HURRAY!

Spent this evening practicing folding and cutting sections (signatures in N America). Rather peaceful occupation. I’m slowly getting the knack. Will keep at it, need to master this basic skill ahead of moving on to more intricate elements of bookbinding.

I think I’ve found a suitable pattern for a jumper. Just need to make sure I understand the instructions before I order the wool. Also found a pattern for a simpler, non-cable woolly hat which I might make to give away…

I’m excited for the arrival of my bookbinding stuff order. May have under-ordered some stuff which is annoying given the delivery charges. Anyway, we live and learn.

Just ordered perhaps far too much stuff for bookbinding but at the same time, just about the right amount… I’ll make mistakes, I’m sure.

I think I’ve found a suitable pattern for a cardigan. Might be ordering some more wool…

A small amount of progress but some again, at least. This time, I’ve seam welded the lower cross-member and bolted the nose cross-member in place. Still needs the welds tidying but at least it’s more secure and I can move this bit of the cycle kart chassis about at last.

I’m going to wish all my followers and listeners a happy New Year 2024. It’s been a really tough 2023 for me, so I am hoping for a good one this time around.
