Had some fun with this. Haven't really written anything in ages, and the whole concept of Viscoxite had me thinking of plurality from the very beginning 😅

So enjoy something I scrambled to write. I'll likely add more over time and edit it down but idk 💚

Vanessa's Viscoxite "You're saying that this can help ease life's worries. Guaranteed." Vanessa said to the spokesperson, eyeing the glob on the pedestal. "All that and more, my dear! With just one touch, you too can say goodbye to every worry. Every decision, every choice, you can have the perfect companion to sate all of life's trivialities and leave you refreshed, ever present for the next moment!" The cleft chinned, brown haired man sporting a fashionable white suit preached on for a few minutes more before Vanessa had heard enough. She wanted to see if it could help her, and this man, however brash and puppetted he seemed, had promised her just that. "How much" she interrupted him. "How much? Well, it looks like this little guy has his eyes on you, so consider this a free life ahead of you! Make sure you tell your friends all about Viscoxite~" As he talked, the glob of goop on the pedestal had been inching towards Vanessa. She didn't realize until the spokesman said it, but it did seem to fixate on her. It's small antenna wiggled as she took a step closer, taking her time on this. "And this would be for life?" she asked. "Most certainly, but a life ever fulfilling, I can assure you!" She took another step and bent her knees slightly, coming eye to... antenna, with the goop. "Well, you only live once. Come on little guy, you can't possibly be that bad. No worse than the rest of them for sure." she muttered, letting the goop slink towards a box. She hadn't wanted to do this in public, she wanted the safety and privacy of her apartment. Vanessa went to get out of her car when she remembered the box on the passenger's seat. It wasn't hard to forget. It was very small, and the traffic out of the mall that day had been awful. She swore her eyes could still see the brake lights half an hour after getting out of there. "Come on little guy, I didn't forget about you" she muttered, grabbing the box as she awkwardly bent over the center console. She climbed the steps to her abode, the second floor of a pretty quiet part of town. It fit her, very unassuming on the surface, but the moment she entered she was flooded with the sight of walls covered by homemade crafts. Rugs, paintings, hanging planters. She called herself a maximalist, but it was really just the result of having too many hobbies. "Shit, I forgot David's drinks. Fuck it, I'll do it tomorrow, he won't mind another day. Plus, not like he'll really care. He'll be interested in you." She opened the box, looking for the goop. "There you are, little thing." It had climbed onto the opening flap and stuck there, defying gravity right next to Vanessa's thumb. "Well go on, that spokesman said one touch after all, and you seem more eager than I am" Vanessa told the goop, closing the door behind her and tossing her keys towards the couch. The goop hesitated a moment, it's antenna twitching. "Oh don't get cold feet now, or I'm gonna have to poke one of those." Goopy, as she affectionately thought of it, recoiled at that, hiding it's antenna as best as it could. "Wait, can you actually understand me? Shit, you really are interesting ain't ya. Alright, alright, I won't poke your little feelers, don't worry. Now at least get off the box so I can put it down, please." With that, Goopy lurched towards her thumb. It felt... cool. Slick, but dry. It felt like how Latex looked. "Now, what are ya gonna do to me little buddy. I'm not furry like all those ads showed off." Goopy crawled up her thumb, slowly. Up to her wrist, and then up her forearm. "You don't gotta take your time, little man. You can speed it up if you want." Vanessa urged, hoping it would oblige. It was only then that she noticed it's trail had been spreading. It wasn't just contained to a sliver of her hand, it had now fully engulfed her thumb, and was rapidly spreading around her fingers. Not just that, she could feel her index and middle finger pulling together. Tendril-like entities from the good had attached the two, and seemed to be the driving force. Vanessa felt the force again, but from her pinky and ring fingers. "For a tiny little goop, you have some... pull..." She swore she heard a voice in response. She had no idea what it was saying, but she swore it. Looking around she called out "David? You there?" By this point, Goopy had gotten to her shoulder. "Oh, hey." Vanessa raised her arm to pet Goopy, but before even asking it if it wanted that, she was taken aback by how... different her arm looked. Instead of the slim, pale arm, there was instead shiny black goop. Her fingers, all 3 of them, had small little claw-like additions on the end. She put her hands together just to take in how different they were. On the one side, a human hand. On the other, something that would look like it belonged in one of those old straight to DVD movies that gave some of her friends some spice in life. "Just you wait until I get around your face, dear~" "Ok that was NOT David. Who was that." "I believe you called me 'Goopy', miss." "What? But. But that's from inside? You're on my shoulder still." Vanessa, confused, tried to reason with herself. She was just hearing things. That was it. Goopy was just crawling along, down onto her collarbone, there was no way it was talking to her. "Silly girl. They told you I would be a companion, does it surprise you that I can communicate in such a manner? Come, look unto a mirror. I can show you." Vanessa was too shocked to respond, but listened to the disembodied voice. She half ran to her bathroom. "Now, when I'm communicating with you dearest, pay attention to my antennae. When I say Left" it's left antenna shook. "And when I say Right" it's right antenna shook. "It's that simple, dear. There are no games or tricks, we are to be companions in your life after all." Vanessa couldn't help but laugh. Not a hearty one like she had wanted, but a good chuckle. "Man, I thought I was going crazy. That makes a lot of sense, okay. Thought David was playing tricks on me." "I don't know this David, but rest assured, they won't even notice I'm here if that's what you wish." "That's not really possible, I already know you're here" a masculine voice rang out, entirely within Vanessa's head, much like Goopy's voice had. "Ah, there you are Davey. Sorry about your drinks, this little guy and traffic distracted me." Vanessa thought to the other voice in her head. "I imagine you've seen Goopy?" "I have, yes. You know, you could have asked before adding a third person to this place. I like the hand though, it fits me a lot." he responded as the arm seemed to raise on it's own. "Not easy to make this feel so real from just gloves." Goopy, meanwhile, had stopped in it's tracks. The good trail still spreading, but itself laying motionless on Vanessa's throat. "Why are there two."
