The Tau, despite its damage, pursued and sunk the remaining Hydran ships. In a display of sheer cruelty and contempt, its crew also turned their wrath onto whatever sailors had survived the Tau’s assault. Not a single Hydran man who entered the strait left it again.

The Draco was sunk due to this critical error, and with the Sirius not having the firepower to match the Tau in head on combat, it was forced to attempt a retreat alongside the wounded Procyon B. However, the Antareans did not relent.

Sirius, the Hydran battlecruiser, had until now been engaging Antarean destroyers. Due to this it was too late to assist the Draco. Both the Draco and Tau had sustained immense damage, but what could’ve been a decisive volley from the Draco skimmed just above the Tau.

The Draco and Tau (Antarean battleship) entered each other’s firing lanes soon enough, but the prominence of islands made it hard for either ship to get shots off. A crucial decision from the captain of the Draco was to turn port, whereas starboard would’ve kept the Tau in sights.

The two destroyers alongside the Hydrus fleet, the Procyon A and B, advanced separately and turned around the incorrect island, accidentally exposing them to Antarean cruiser fire. While the cruiser was sunk, the Procyon A was sunk and B was heavily damaged.

As the area was extremely narrow, Hydrus high command believed it to be nearly impossible to lose, due to the capability of their flagship, the Draco. Despite this, a series of miscalculations would ultimately steal an almost certain victory.

With a speed comparable to that of a destroyer, and firepower to rival a battleship, the Rubrum was among the most feared weapons of the Antarean navy. With ships like these, it is truly astounding Antares lost the Forman War.

On each side of the Rubrum there is a dual-gun secondary cannon, and a light 37mm anti aircraft “Pompom” gun. Full broadsides could prove lethal to light cruisers and aircraft alike, with the Rubrum in particular being favored for both uses.

On the back there is another 3-gun 203mm cannon, as well as a lighter secondary cannon mounted on top. With more dual purpose cannons, all ends of the ship possess formidable AA capacities, as well as good anti-destroyer abilities. It also carries a light hydroplane, typically used for scouting.

On the front of the ship lie 3 3-gun 203mm cannons, making incline broadsides deadly to smaller ships and devastating to most cruisers. Also emplaced on the bow are 2 medium AA guns, and one dual purpose cannon. Spearheading with the Rubrum was a common tactic by its captains.
