I’m thinking I may just not like Otome sequels. Code Realize is one of my favorite games ever, and the sequel is just…boring? I feel like it’s too focused on giving fanservice moments compared to character development. Which is the point of these sequels, I get it, but that might not be for me.

Watching The Game Awards and I’m just so happy for Clair Obscur to be getting so much love. If it doesn’t win GOTY, I’ll be so sad.

As someone with a enormous Steam library collecting dust because I can’t be bothered to sit at my PC at night after sitting at a computer all day for work, I’m so excited for the Steam Machine. Though at some point, I just need to get a dock for my deck to solve the problem for now.

It’s just cruel for Slime Rancher 2 and Hades 2 to come out of early access so close to one another. I can’t play them both simultaneously!

I like to periodically update my Backloggd with reviews of what I played recently. Been putting this batch off because I’m doing a re-review of Pokemon Violet and a review of Baldur’s Gate 3. One is getting a 10…and one is getting…much lower. Which is which is…going to be unpopular 🤣

I’m finally into chapter 4 of Xenoblade 3. I think I’m starting to get into it, but I’ve been struggling compared to how immediately I loved 1 and X. At least it’s better than 2, though that’s a…pretty low bar for me.

It’s been a rough year for me as a person prone to motion sickness in games with particularly flashy cameras. Clair Obscur is basically unplayable, and I don’t think I’ll be able to get through DK Bonanza, either.

Probably a good sign for how well character designs are done in Jack Jeanne, but I’m just staring at the training screen because I can’t decide which route to take 😭. I think Suzu seems like a good fit for a first playthrough, but I’m way more interested in Fumi or Kai’s backstories.

I thought I’d give Jack Jeanne a try next in my otome adventures. This way, I can alternate routes with other games if it’s too exhausting to play all at once. This art style is GORGEOUS 😍

I finished Code:Realize! What a journey. I loved every route and it’s definitely one of my favorite VNs, if not favorite games, period.

Saint-Germain’s route in Code Realize…didn’t have any part of that on my bingo card. Favorite route from a plot perspective, didn’t really buy the romance part at any point. But! Onto the final route!

Frankensteins’s route in Code: Realize is done, too. I don’t think I’ve ever played a VN this quickly. Picking a favorite at the end of this is going to be really difficult.

Every time the anniversary of this game rolls around, I am reminded that I am ancient and getting ancient-er. This was the childhood game that made me a lifelong gamer and I’ll love it forever for that.
Happy 24th anniversary to Final Fantasy X! Even though it wasn't my first FF, I played it when I was getting that age (around 9 or 10) to start appreciating that video games are an art form. It's essentially the first game that showed me how magical video games could be. They can tell a great story.

Ranking the 9R.I.P. Love Interests
I am proud to say that, after many years of thinking I should probably try playing an otome game in full, I have finally done it by rolling credits on 9R.I.P. after completing every route and achieving all endings. When I heard that there was an entire game dedicated to dating ghosts, demons, and spirits, I knew I had to give it a try.

I FLEW through Van Helsing’s route in Code:Realize. It was so good, one of my favorite VN routes I’ve ever played. I really hope I get a little more fluff from the sequels with him because he deserves it after what he went through 🥺

Impey’s route is done! I wasn’t super excited for his route, but I was absolutely blown away by it. So adorable! This game is definitely on track to be a new favorite for me if all the routes are this good.

I finished Baldur’s Gate 3. I’m freeeeeee! This is also a good reminder that when I eventually rank games this year, I really do rankings/ratings mostly on subjective experience. And subjectively, I believe Baldur’s Gate 3 forgot that games are generally played for the purpose of having fun.

I finished Baldur’s Gate 3. I’m freeeeeee! This is also a good reminder that when I eventually rank games this year, I really do rankings/ratings mostly on subjective experience. And subjectively, I believe Baldur’s Gate 3 forgot that games are generally played for the purpose of having fun.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is the most frustrating gaming experience. The game gives me just enough epic highs that I convince myself playing it is worth it, only to then spend the next ten hours absolutely miserable lol. I’m 100 hrs in and yet, I don’t actually think I like playing it.

I wasn’t terribly excited about Impey’s route in Code: Realize and was worried starting with him would sour my opinion of the game. It definitely is not soured, he’s such a sweetie and his route is amazing so far.
