Just your average software developer that’s been working in the tech industry for 25+ years and has lots of “unpopular opinions” that piss people off.
I like to add and ’ any time I submit online forms because I know that some developer is going to see it and wonder if they have a bug 🐞

Help! I’m at a Series C “startup” and the CTO is still writing production code. He hasn’t transitioned into a proper executive and is still performing as an extremely expensive Senior Engineer.

Vibe coding is basically the new WYSIWYG editors of old being rebranded.

Those that can’t code use it to make their MVP and then hire those that can code to fix all the 💩 they created.

Finished my first week of work at the new gig and man there’s a lot to do.
No test reports.
No code coverage data.
No run books.
Standups one a week.
No real quality checks.
No real accountability.

This is going to be fun.

Apparently OpenAI has stated that saying “Please and Thank You” to ChatGPT costs them millions. So keep up being polite assholes.

I have the final interview with one company tomorrow. Have a good feeling they will offer afterwards. Also have another pending offer to come in on Monday. Decisions, decisions.

Reasons I won’t go to a casino:
I’m too good at math to know they will screw you over.
I’m not good enough at math to screw them over.

Every single person I know who's smarter than me about computers read this headline and began levitating. Their eyes turned black and they started speaking like the oracles in a Grecian play.

Say what you will about this clown car administration, but at least it’s done wonders for reducing my imposter syndrome 😂😂

They know how to use Signal? You’d think Elon would have them using Twitter DMs so he can either cover them up or blackmail them later.

You can use AI, but every time you ship a bug, this rock drops an inch.

Hope your testing is solid.

Typescript is literally the definition of “programmers have to have something to do”.
Why not just leave things the hell alone and get to work instead of reinventing something that’s useless?

Technical debt accumulates when people just "glob on" one more thing to an existing bad technical decision.

We chicken out and ship 1 story point, not the 10 it would take to tidy up.

LLMs encourage this even more. See thing, make more of thing. Early choices get copied.

A friend told me today they finally realized why I’ve bailed on so many interviews. The company is not interviewing me, I’m interviewing them.

That hit me pretty hard, and it’s absolutely correct.
