While certainly not rape, obviously negligent care. I’m glad I lived to escape the ex and I wish I knew the name of that doc. I’d have her work in a battered spouses shelter. You NEVER ask someone, when they’re with their spouse, anything about home life. That’s a no-brainer.

Went to FTHood ER because I was suicidal. I was honest. Doc, in front of my abusive husband, “everything okay at home?” then “need to check yourself in? I’ll give you time to talk.” The ex “you can’t, they’ll flag my records!” I left sobbing, with my ex guiding me by the elbow. I’ll never forget!🤬

Nice to meet another Goose. Love that your grands call you that! It was what my parents lovingly nicknamed me. Started as silly goose and over time just got shortened to Goose. This reminds me, I still need to purchase a silly goose article of clothing! 😆

This was a beautiful read! The poem Metamorphosis brought me to tears. 🥹 My mother was a gardener, and I have finally gotten the hang of it. So, when I am in my garden, I am often thinking of her. The person who leaned into your ear and whispered had me chuckling. Thank you for sharing, Paula.

I lost my shit!! I melted down. It was Saturday in the Phoenix Airport and it was PACKED! I do not remember what I said, only that my dad had died and I had no money. Some very kind man got up out of his seat and told the woman he’d pay my fee. Still grateful to that man all these years later.

Uff, yeah… that would’ve been rough! I remember flying home on Saturday after my Dad died and my bag was too heavy. The gate attendant said I’d have to pay an extra fee. I had NO money - 3 kids, husband was a teacher, and I was in grad school. Spent everything on a ticket to say goodbye to my dad.
