Been working on re-formating my comics for self-printing and I came across this old piece. It was originally a sketch cover someone requested back in the 2010's (in the long long ago.) I gave it a coat of color in 2020 and now you're looking at it! Enjoy!

Can you smell the newsprint? Self printing experiment was a 99.9% success. The paper I used for the cover really wasn’t meant to be printed double sided so there was slight warping. I’m gonna try some different paper tonight to see how it goes. Otherwise I’m very happy with the result. #makecomics

In my quest to explore avenues of self printing my comic books I'm looking into using old ben-day dot printing methods to save on ink usage.
This is why it's important to know tho old ways children, the more tools in your tool box the more robust your creativity can be.

This is one of the reasons you have to be mindful when applying screen tones. If you don’t consider the art reproduction size, or you don’t layer screen tones at the same angle you’ll get this weird moiré pattern in your comic. Using a proportional scale tool (analog or digital) can help.

Speaking of old artwork, I found the original pages to my senior project from 20 years ago. They feature a familiar character. I may or may not have improved in the last 20 years. Hard to say.

You ever look at 15 year old art and say to your self: "Self, this old page has alot of anatomy and perspective errors, but the vibes are immaculate, you should go back to drawing like this... minus the errors."
Maybe it's time i go back to using heavy blacks and silhouettes more...
