Gravel Burn Stage 5 done and dusted.

- A well-known rider won the men's stage, even though he's on holiday
- A French pro reminded us that she may well be the strongest lady out there
- No GC shakeups but some shrinking margins.

They list a bunch of races that are considered. Non-conclusive, of course.

There's no type of ranking, no weighing, no definition of how certain results are scored/judged. And, of course, all other races and results could also be considered, if Life Time chooses so.

The upgraded and now fully transparent selection process is... just the public, written documentation of how Lifetime selected riders before?

Essentially the document says: the good people of the LTGP do as they see fit but we promise to prioritize performance.

Not sure what the goal is here.

Payson teased this on his pod a few weeks ago. It sounded like we should expect an incentive for international pros to not drop out.

But $2.5k is less than the budget needed for 1 trip to the States?

Doubtful it's gonna do the trick. But it is great for US pros.

More 💰 for the riders is always a good thing.

Not sure the top-heavy distribution scheme is best from an ecosystem sustainability standpoint. But on a high level, it's hard to be opposed to this.

My deep dive on the 2025 UCI Gravel Worlds is out on The Gravel Stack.

This isn't a race recap—it's a look at what the Worlds are, what they aren't, and why they maybe felt alien

Had a great time talking with Payson McElveen about the current state and future of gravel.

Does gravel need more teams? Does the sport need better governance with a long-term strategy? Should gravel bet big on TV money?

This weekend, I went to Italy to ride The Hills.

In case you didn't hear about it: it was an absolute mud fest. As a back-of-the-pack age grouper who doesn't have to hold wheels at all cost, I still look relatively decent in the photos. But if you haven't yet, check out the pros' pics. Insanity.

In case you didn't Follow Santa Vall: Annika Langvad _destroyed_ the (top notch European gravel elite) competition in today's stage. Impressive solo victory.

If she can carry this form through the season she's a force to be reckoned with.

The 2025 gravel season properly kicked off today with Santa Vall. The women's race has just finished.

A super strong group of three, Rosa Klöser, Gee Schreurs, and Annika Langvad, got away early and ended up sprinting for the win. Langvad 🥇

Hey #NBAsky. Something weird happened in my podcast feed. It's sorted by most recent episode. And suddenly the old Jalen & Jacoby feed, back from ESPN days was at the top this morning.

With a 13 second episode "J&J Trailer", the old call sign and a link to advertising options. What's brewing?

Isn't it at least a tiny bit amusing how the Giro's Strava account is hyping up the Tirreno-Adriatico route reveal while the Giro route remains a mystery until (at least) January?

My best friend and the gym this winter, the leg press.
