Yes the assumption that the American system and liberal democratic insts will continue to exist, and that 🇨🇦will get any representation is a huge assumption to make at this moment in time. Likely more of a patron-client relationship

The relative silence makes me wonder if something is being planned or that there is some strategy in place about how to deal with all these. So far it has seemed like a litigation based one.

In general negative campaigns have been historically less successful here and PP only has negative messaging. /3

That said, we have a few structural conditions helping us out with democratic resilience: independent but publicly funded media, higher levels of dem trust, better public ed (though certainly not perfect) than the US. /2

Weaker but it’s fragile. Foreign interference is a problem and disinformation will be a bigger problem in the next election cycle. /1
