Sigh. This is a bug that is popping up more and more often. We’re asking some volunteers to look into it but it might take a bit of time to figure out.

thanks! just came across your post when I was looking for something else. Glad things worked out!

Agreed. this sucks.
But the world is burning, and life is not what it used to be. I think it's still valid for different artists to consider their own risks. If you don't think mimicry is a significant risk, then the work might not be worth it. Just make the decision that is right for you.

mmm, the memory requirement is for the GPU memory. Some GPUs use shared memory (more common on some macs I believe), where normal applications can shrink the amount of memory available to GPUs. If you have one of those, you will likely need to shut down most of your normal apps to free up memory.

Never enough hours in the day, but we do everything we can.

hey Tim.
Sorry but we have not had time to do this, and still have our hands full just trying to answer account requests for webglaze. On the nightshade "True" bug, we're seeing this more and more often. It might be a glaze + ns bug, and I'm trying to get someone to look into it more.

Sorry, supporting linux versions is just not doable considering we're a small group of academics doing this in our volunteer time. Check DMs

We’re working on this

Ty for your support Lexi. I will just note that there are no AI tools or features that break Glaze. You’re perhaps referring to Grok and image editing, which Glaze was never designed to disrupt. Our website even has an entry for this question going back to 2023.

Happy holidays!!

Err just reread this. Need to clarify that “Every day” is not right. Not nearly that often. Just comes up often enough that it seems like it’s every day.

No worries. We get offers every day. If we wanted the $$$ we would have taken up one of those offers years ago.

This is a bug we’re seeing on some computers. Trying to debug it and fix

Not at all. Always tough to deal with misinformation from trolls.

LoRA is short for low rank adaptation. It is a shortcut method for training models that is lightweight and fast, and allows someone with a moderate laptop to train a small update to a bigger model in a few hours. It is the primary way for bad actors to build a model to mimic an artist’s style.
December 26, 2025 at 4:23 AM
Because what people are doing with grok is not mimicry. It is called image to image transformation, and not what glaze was designed for. You cannot train a mimicry model on top of a centralized model like Grok. We’ve been clear going back to 2023 that Glaze was not designed to prevent image editing.

We don’t see a need for an update when v2.1 works fine. It’s ironic that folks have been trained to think no new updates means it’s broken. We will make an update to improve compatibility with some new GPUs in January though. But folks who use v2.1 without problems should not update.

There are so many bots and bad actors on there, I decided quite a while ago and it was a lost cause. Not worth my time or anyone else’s to bother with that nonsense. Dealing with the spillover that reaches bsky is frustrating enough.

Hmm if you read our instructions we ask you contact us from your account with your art for verification. What is your primary platform and account and we will answer you there.

We still recommend that artists keep their $ for a rainy day. We will try to work with commercial companies who want to glaze their IP, and use those proceeds (along w donations etc) to fund our noncommercial activities, including development and operation of tools like webglaze.

Honestly don’t understand why people stay on that dumpster of a platform. Glaze is designed to disrupt LORAs. Nightshade is designed to attack base models

We will make more announcements about ETCH, its mission, goals and concrete steps as things take shape in 2026.

In the meantime, here's to a happy holiday season to celebrate with friends and family, and a brighter 2026!

Turns out building a nonprofit is a lot of work. But we're well on our way. Lots of the legal and financial groundwork has been laid. We have a great board of directors, and a group of amazing advisors and volunteers from different fields, legal, medical, arts, policy, and of course tech.

So much of our work in 2025 and forward goes beyond the typical research carried out in an academic lab. So it's fitting that we create an organization to support all of our efforts to support human creatives and the ethical use of technology to support, not replace humanity.
