Peace marches calling for an end to civilian deaths aren’t the same as protests against refugees or migrants, which do often fuel hostility. It’s important to keep those distinctions clear if we care about reducing hate, not amplifying it.

1/2 You’re again shifting the topic away from what I actually said. My post was about a senior politician spreading a falsehood — describing a peaceful pro-ceasefire march (which included many Jewish participants) as a “hate march.”

But your comment has nothing to do with my post. I was talking about Priti Patel falsely describing a peaceful march — which included many Jewish people — as a “hate march,” and Laura Kuenssberg failing to challenge that lie.

It’s because some people have wrongly conflated the actions of the Israeli government in Gaza with Jewish people as a whole — and that’s exactly what fuels antisemitic hate crimes. It’s that simple.
