UK based (very) amateur gardener trying to turn my small back garden into an oasis of calm as an escape from the world.
The Crocosmia Lucifer really come into its own as we head deeper into Summer. Can be thuggish and rhizomes need lifting and dividing but a lovely punchy display.

I love this dark leaved Heuchera (coral bells). Seems happy in sun or shade, great for near edge of border.

Love the delicate flowers of the Rosa Rugosa…but it can be thuggish, putting out runners. Considered invasive in the UK and not to be let loose in the wild.

Dandelion head. Yes it’s a weed. But the flowers are great for pollinators and can we please admire the structure of the seed head! I still dig them out my flower beds!

The Solomon’s Seal (Polygonatum Multiflorum) currently looking resplendent - at least until sawfly caterpillar rapidly defoliates them.

I love the bright yellow flowers of the lesser celandine. Early flowering UK native wildflower, great for pollinators. Can spread but it’s gone by May as other plants take over.

The hyacinths are on the cusp of blooming. I’d forgotten I’d planted a lot of bulbs last year which are popping up all over the garden. Which is nice.

For the first time in the UK, the rare and endangered Pseudohydrosme gabunensis from Gabon will bloom on display.

Much like the famous Titan Arum, this elusive plant only flowers for a short time - but every bloom is a rare and important moment for conservation.

Stay tuned for updates 🌿👀
