Those who enjoy both The Rings of Power (season one, specifically) and Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein may be interested to know that both feature the same costume designer: the wonderful Kate Hawley!

Hawley also worked on The Hobbit trilogy, which del Toro was originally set to direct.

An idea for your Christmas tree this year - stacks of Celtic gold torcs! Known as the Ipswitch Torcs after the location where their hoard was found, the terminals are decorated in the swirly La Tène style (Tène II), save the top one which is unadorned. 🎄🏺 1/

A stack of five gold torcs against a green background. All were made from two twisted solid bars, with loop terminals cast on. Four (1969,0103.2-5) have cast terminals ornamented in high relief with Tène II style curvilinear motifs of bosses and scrolls, within a border of two corded bands lying slightly apart; they can be paired but their patterns are not identical. The fifth - at top (1969,0103.1) - has plain terminals. These torcs were probably deposited together as a hoard around 75 BCE.

It's #WorldEmbroideryDay ! I completed my very first embroidery in March of 2024 and have been stitching since. It's been such a rewarding craft to engage in! I haven't had a finish in a while (life happens), but I have a few very exciting projects gearing up!
My very first completed embroidery, finished in March 2024. It is a vibrant, colorful mandala, with orange, hot pink, pale blue, lime green, purple, turquoise, yellow, and aqua threads on navy fabric. My second completed embroidery. It is a botanical wreath on a greige fabric. There are vines, leaves, and flowers done in a variety of pastel colors, with some jewel tone blossom accents. There are two large flowers in salmon and yellow. My third completed embroidery. It is a negative space initial of the letter M. The pattern around the M is large flowers done in black thread on white fabric. My fourth completed embroidery. It depicts two vibrant orange jellyfish on a blue ombre fabric, with turquoise, peach, seafoam green, and magenta seaweed rising from the bottom. White bubbles float up around the jellyfish.
