"A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death." Albert Einstein

Any (?) atheist would see the wrongness of slavery.
But are there any religious worth acts
"To be patriotic, hate all nations but your own; to be religious, all sects but your own; to be moral, all pretenses but your own." -- Lionel Strachey (1864-1927) British writer, translator, humorist

In the word RELIGION I would also include love/adoration of country. And adoration of people - "they can do nothing wrong so I will follow"

These seem a relevant voice however,

A "church" architecture can be admired by all. Music and art less so.
Non of these help the human condition we currently find ourselves in, unfortunately!

I tend towards agreement with your translation, and will no longer attribute it to Pascal!

Apart from the architecture of churches, I must ask what good has religion done?
Certainly not stopped wars, fed the starving, cured the sick, etc.
"Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction" Blaise Pascal (1623–1662)

Come on people. Swasticars are good but over priced. However tessla seem to have revamped one model and I keep getting people posting on twitter how amazing the red lights are, how wonderful the colours are, new wheels, front light bar. It is an electric tin box that carries people nothing more!

Fall & Rise of Reginald Perrin - opens a shop called Grot, where he sells useless products – like square hoops, round dice & Tom's wine (made from sprouts, nettles & the like) – hoping it will be an interesting failure. However, products are snapped up as novelties and Grot becomes a huge success.
