But the infill projects poised to get rammed through aren’t in wealthy neighborhoods. They’re overwhelmingly in low income neighborhoods with a high rent gap, where homeowners are generally middle class and POC, and are at high risk of being priced out if prop taxes increase.

I strongly disagree: blindly building market rate housing in the current housing system doesn’t make housing more accessible, it just dismantles communities by pricing people out of their own homes/neighborhoods. New development has to be deeply and permanently affordable to start fixing things.

It sucks because the only changes the city seems interested in making to CEQR are to make it easier to ram through developments, and not turn it into a process that actually serves communities/the people
