It blows my mind that these people log onto obsessively talk about the NHL, yet don't comprehend or learn anything along the way. They continue to exist in a world where stars never get traded and if they do, it's for an astronomical package not, ya know, Ryan Poehling.

Good rule.

Took a peek at Flyers twitter this morning for some Quinn Hughes hot takes. Saw a straight up Michkov/Martone Sophie's Choice trade proposal. Do trades like that honestly ever happen? Eichel got traded for Alex Tuch. Relax, gang.

When @jsaquella.bsky.social gave up, it was over.

Eichel returned an A prospect (Tuch), a B+ prospect (Krebs), a protected 1st and a 2nd. The Flyers have a ton to offer and I'd think it starts with Drysdale, frankly. He's young and you wouldn't want both he and Hughes on your back end.

It's just the trade acquisition cost. No one is paying a premium if there isn't an agreement that he'll stay. The trades on X are completely out of touch with reality, as the acq is never as high in reality as they are online.

I don't buy the whole "NJ or bust" thing. I think that's just people hanging onto one stupid quote from one of the worst Presidents in the league. NJD can't afford him anyway, they're $4M over the cap right now now and those costs aren't going down w/3 Hughes Bros.
November 26, 2025 at 1:53 PM
The Flyers would be pretty well-informed of his intentions. He's in that Zegras clique and Jones is about as plugged in as anyone in the league. I'm not worried about them getting caught off guard. Just a question of cost and if they have what VAN would want. I'd think they do more so than NJD.

It wouldn't surprise me if Ersson and Vladar jockey for the starter role over the next 2-3 years. If Ersson breaks out at 28 (as Vladar is now) that would correspond with the end of Vladar's current deal and line up w/Kolosov, Bjarnasson and Zavragin matriculating through the system. #ExtendErsson

In terms of technique, he's got all the tools. He's excellent to the eyes and kind of a "goalie's goalie." The numbers just aren't there, which, in conjunction w/losing the starter's net to Vladar early in the year, will benefit the Flyers in negotiations. He should get paid back up G money.

But at the same time they also beat FLA 5-2? NJD (6-3 W) is the 4th oldest team in the league?

It just seems like they get pushed around by big, veteran teams like TB, DAL, WPG.
November 25, 2025 at 3:38 PM
I can't really find an age or experience (NHL GP) correlation to the Flyers results, except to say they seem to struggle against these established, veteran teams:

FLA (2-1 L)
CAR (4-3 OTL)
WPG (5-2 L)
TOR (5-2 L)
EDM (2-1 OTL)
DAL (5-1 OTL)
TB (3-0 L)

I'm as frustrated with him on the ice as anyone but the human side of it is real. Guy has a young family, their house damn near burned down, tumultuous 24-25 into 4 Nations into Torts meltdown / firing. Then he played at Worlds (bad idea) and new contract kicked in on 7/1 and now adapting to Toc.
November 25, 2025 at 3:25 PM
Ya, but it's spanned three coaches now: Torts (post-4 Nations to 3/27) Shaw (April) and now Tocchet. It's not the coaching. Best explanation I can come up with: Pressure? Pressure to make Team Canada and pressure to live up to the new contract in Y1. He hasn't looked comfortable in about 10 months.
November 25, 2025 at 3:23 PM
Looks like you knew that! Ha!
If my math is correct (it probably isn’t I’m an English teacher), Konecny has seven goals since last year’s Four Nations break—that’s ~45 games.

No way the Flyers make the playoffs if he isn’t going.

The decent point production is covering up the continuation of a terrible 2025. He’s looked bad for a while.

The Flyers would then enter Summer 2026's barren UFA market ready to make a trade w/multiple pieces at their disposal:
-2026 1st (PHL)
-Future 1st (Dvorak)
-2027 1st (PHL)
-2027 1st (TOR)
-Ristolainen (UFA 28)
-Tippett (6.2M thru 2032)

Let's see the future of this team get that experience. Bump, Martone, Zegras at Center. Burnout and the resulting injuries and poor goaltending caused by it sacrificed that playoff berth post-Walker in 2024, but the Flyers might be positioned to make the POs *and* add a 1st round pick this spring.
November 24, 2025 at 4:33 PM
We could look back on the first 1/4 of this season as the "Training Wheels" portion of Zegras' first year w/the Flyers. By February Zegras could be playing C full time w/o Dvorak, in which case a DeVo trade would be in "no brainer" territory.

If a PO berth is all about relevant experience then...
November 24, 2025 at 4:33 PM
But is the juice worth the squeeze? I'd say so. If Dvorak continues on a 55ish point pace, this GM has proven he can get a 1st for an asset of that quality. It's not quite a no-brainer, as Dvorak has been invaluable to Zegras' development, but a lot can happen in 4 mos. Like...
